Today is a special day. It is your K2 graduation day! I am very happy to witness this major milestone – seeing you walk up the stage in your little graduation gown and mortarboard, and receiving your certificate, beaming with so much joy. The pride that we feel watching you achieve your goals is a defining moment for your papa and me! 😙
As cliche as it may sound, there are moments of this chokeful and intense surge of emotions during your concert – excited, nostalgic, sentimental and misty-eyed all at once. I still remember when you first joined the school in 2015, you were a little overwhelmed. We struggled through a lot of mornings with you crying and refusing to let go of my hand. 😖
Very soon, the crying stopped. And very very soon, you are always excited to see your classmates at the gate so that you can walk in together. If I pick you up early, you will be upset with me because you are still playing with your friends. 🙄 Fast forward to today, you are a confident little boy who puts in 100% if you set your heart out to do anything.
I see how you have grown over the years, forging precious friendship along the way. Even though your “best friends” changes over time and the group of people you hang out with don’t remain the same. Well, my son, this is perfectly fine. In time to come, you will realise a strong friendship doesn’t need daily conversation or being together. As long as the relationship lives in the heart, true friends never part.
Your teachers are heroes whom you dearly look up to. They are the ones who make a difference to your preschool years. I really can’t thank them enough, not only for imparting their knowledge to you but for shaping your little mind into who you are today.
You and your friends did a finale song 感恩有你。 I find the lyrics so beautifully written and would like to dedicate this to your teachers in My First Skool.
Thank you Teacher Ima and Huang Laoshi. I truly believe teaching is a work of heart. And I hope Jaden meets more inspirational teachers like you in his next phase of school life.
My dear Jaden, I am always reminded how blessed I am to be your mom as you reach these milestones in your life. I’m glad to be with you every step of the way to celebrate with you, to cheer you on and to cherish these moments together.
We invited your 婆婆 and 奶奶 to your K2 graduation and we are all so happy for you. Just like your 婆婆，I would also like to recall this special day with crystal clear details, 30 years down the road when I attend my grandchildren’s graduation.
We didn’t get to sit near the front, because we needed space for your brothers to move about, hence we took the last row. That would mean I didn’t manage to get any good shots or videos of your performance, which you and your friends have been practising for months. I also missed the important moment you received your graduation scroll, because I was fumbling with video buttons! What a shame. I felt so silly.
But not to worry, I promise you there will be a Part 2 to this post as soon as I receive any updates from the school’s Facebook. I have to tell you we are so lucky you have a classmate whose daddy is always around to take awesome shots for all of you.
Congratulations, my kindergarten graduate! Up, up and on your way to greater success! I love you!
